Musical Makki

After analyzing interviews and observations gathered at the Bethany Center for Seniors in San Francisco, I decided to design a game to bring generations closer together. Many elders at the center spoke passionately about their love for music and children. However, it seemed they had little contact with either. The game, Musical Makki, is meant to take the success of music based games such as DDR and translate them into a less physically intensive and more intergenerational experience. A little girl can bring this game to her grandfather’s nursing home, and bond through silliness and laughter.

Broom Project – Crazy Cleanup!

For our intro project in ID2, we were asked to redesign a broom. I decided to create a broom based game for kids called ‘Crazy Cleanup!’. Basically, it is a wacky broom that shoots confetti out the end in hopes of encouraging or teaching cleaning. I carved a full scale model out of foam.

Future Project – Go Fly, Glow Flies!

I had a lot of fun with this ID1 project. The assignment was to design a product in your field of interest for the Future. I chose to design a toy of the future. Imagining a future where children are obese, don’t get to play with each other due to video/computer games and rarely spend time outdoors – I came up with ‘Go Fly, Glow Flies!’, a game for the future.
